Happy New Year again

Happy New Year to you!

Another year over and what have we done.....I love that song. I hope this coming year is a better one for everyone. I have so much to be grateful for and my heart goes out to those who are in dire straits because of the economy.

We had a very nice Christmas and drove up to TN on Christmas day to retrieve my daughter. She broke her right foot a few weeks ago and can't drive with a cast on. We had a wonderful time together, even if she did beat me severely in Wii bowling (while sitting DOWN, mind you!) and knock me OUT in Wii boxing. She always makes me laugh and we get along really well. We went to the local mall (it's a smallish one) and got a wheelchair for her so she didn't have to crutch it around the place. I thought I did pretty well for never having operated a wheelchair before - I didn't run over one single thing. She did have an idea for a game that involved whacking people who stared at her with her crutches but I convinced her that wasn't a good idea :-)

I do have some cards to post, one of my own and the rest received from friends, but I wanted to share this with you first:

We all love the cards (handmade or otherwise) we receive and feel bad not keeping them, but how about giving them a second life and helping a good cause at the same time? Check this out:

Don't throw away your Christmas Cards - or any other card for that matter! Send the front of your cards to St. Jude's for recycling!  See their website for address and instructions.  St. Jude's Ranch is their website and it's part of the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

I also wanted to remind you all that even though I don't post often, I do find many cool things to share in my Shared Items on the right, so check back often for those. I also found this yummy recipe just this morning on The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Kay's Roasted Potatoes. I haven't tried it yet but it sure sounds tasty.

Ok, on to the cards:

I am so fortunate to have such a talented group of friends, don't you think?? Here is the card I sent to most people - I was tempted to just make them all like this but since I bought so many new Xmas stamps I was determined to use as many as possible so I did do a few different ones. This one was returned because we forgot to put postage on it, so I was able to get a photo before I put it back in the mail. It was my favorite of all of them and I wish I had bought more rolls of that ribbon in the center. I used it all.....yes, I actually used ALL of something!

If you've gotten this far I am proud of you :-) Thank you for visiting and being patient with me, and I wish each and every one of you a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year! Party on but party safely, especially tonight.

Merry Christmas

funny-pictures-kitten-is-waiting-in-tree-for-santa-claus

I just wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Year!

I would have posted photos of the cards I made this year, but my plan got a kink in it. The plan was to 1. make the cards (check), 2. stamp and sign the insides (check), 3. print address labels (check), 4. photograph cards before putting them into the envelopes.....this is where the kink happened. I skipped straight to put them in the envelopes, put stamps on and mail them. I realized I had skipped over step 4 when they were already in the mailbox ready to go. Too late. Story of my life. I did receive some beautiful handmade cards in the mail, and will get those photographed and posted soon, I hope. Till then.....Peace and Good Will to all, and to all a good night!
